Here's how to draw shapes on a Waveshare, Dalian Good Display or other ePaper display using the GxEPD2 SPI graphics library. Topics covered: circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, lines and individual pixels. Rounded rectangles are also covered and also a few more advanced functions. Note that although this tutorial uses the GxEPD2 library, it is itself largely a wrapper on top of the Adafruit GFX library.

In this video I'm using an ESP32 but the ePaper/e-ink displays also work with an ESP8266, Arduino Uno or other microcontroller. The screen I'm using is the Waveshare 3.7 inch e-Paper HAT. It has a 480x280 monochrome pixel display.

If you're building up a custom display on an ePaper display then use of this graphics primitives is very memory efficient compared to using bitmaps or sprites.

The GxEPD2 library can also draw bitmap images on the e-paper screen. I'll cover this in a separate video.
