One of the most glorious nights in Aberdeen history came when they defeated German powerhouse Bayern Munich in 1983.

Under promising manager Alex Ferguson, they would go on to defeat Real Madrid in the Gothenburg final two months later.

But the quarter-final tie against Bayern saw one of the best nights Pittodrie has ever seen in a rousing comeback after a 0-0 draw in Bavaria.

Trailing 2-1, Alex McLeish and John Hewitt grabbed two late goals in two minutes to send Fergie's men to their first ever European semi-final.
