Production is challenging because this subscore focuses heavily on English reading and writing as well as listening and speaking. The good news is, the more you practice, the better you get at answering these types of questions.

To prepare for the Duolingo English Test, I recommend that you practice the sample tests provided on the DET website. I also recommend that you practice reading English regularly by reading news articles, blog posts, and even Wikipedia articles. To practice listening in English, you should listen to podcasts, watch news, or even TV shows—anything that will hold your interest! To practice speaking, you can read aloud or practice with anyone willing to speak with you in English! The Duolingo English Test is an English proficiency test created for international students who are planning to study abroad.
