टीवीके नेता विजय की रैलियों में उमड़ रही भीड़ और प्रशासन द्वारा अनुमति देने को लेकर की जा रही खींचतान के बीच शनिवार को करूर में एक दुखद हादसे में तीन बच्चों समेत 31 जनों की मौत हो गई। ये सभी विजय की रैली में शामिल होने आए थे और कथित रूप से दम घुटने से इनकी मौत हुई है। इन सभी को मृत अवस्था में ही करूर सरकारी अस्पताल लाया गया। इसी तरह चालीस से अधिक जने अचेत हैं जिनका सरकारी और निजी अस्पतालों में उपचार चल रहा है। मृतकों की संख्या बढ़ने की आशंका जताई गई है।स्वास्थ्य मंत्री एम. सुब्रमण्यन ने मृतकों की संख्या की पुष्टि करते हुए मीडिया को बताया कि वे करूर के लिए निकल चुके हैं। घायलों को अस्पतालों में दाखिल कराया है। सेलम व आस-पास के जिलों से विशेषज्ञों की टीम को करूर रवाना कर दिया गया है। उनके अनुसार अस्पताल लाए गए सभी लोग पहले ही मर चुके थे। मृतकों में छह बच्चे, नौ पुरुष और सोलह महिलाएं हैं। इन सभी के पोस्टमार्टम के लिए विशेषज्ञों की व्यवस्था की गई है। हमारा फिलहाल फोकस अस्पताल में भर्ती लोगों को बचाना है, जिनकी हालत नियंत्रण में बताई गई है। वहीं, तिरुचि से स्कूल शिक्षा मंत्री अन्बिल महेश ने भी हादसे की पुष्टि करते हुए कहा कि वे भी सीएम के आदेश पर करूर जा रहे हैं।

Amidst the swarming crowds at TVK leader Vijay's rallies and the administration's ongoing wrangling over permissions, 31 people, including three children, died in a tragic accident in Karur on Saturday. All of them had come to attend Vijay's rally and reportedly died of suffocation. All of them were brought dead to the Karur Government Hospital. Similarly, more than 40 people are unconscious and undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals. The death toll is feared to rise. Health Minister M. Subramanian confirmed the death toll and told the media that they have left for Karur and the injured have been admitted to hospitals. A team of experts from Salem and surrounding districts has been dispatched to Karur. He said that all those brought to the hospital were already dead. The deceased include six children, nine men, and sixteen women. Experts have been arranged to conduct post-mortems on all of them. The current focus is on saving those admitted to the hospital, whose condition is reported to be under control. Meanwhile, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh from Tiruchi also confirmed the accident and said that he too was going to Karur on the orders of the CM.
