Women’s Studies Crushed at FIU

I just read that the Board at Florida International University has moved to cut 22 classes from the core curriculum relating to women’s studies, ethnic studies and LGBTQ identities. My first teaching job was at FIU in women’s studies and I taught these types of classes. It is disappointing to see that these departments that were born out of social movements are being cut from college requirements. This is parallel to book bans that are also widespread regarding similar topics. This video is just calling attention to these moves by governments and conservative movements to shut down the voices and lessons that provides a critical academic perspective on American society.
