Ferenc Liszt - Präludium und Fuge über B-A-C-H (1870)
on the reconstructed Voit & Söhne organ (IV/77, 1907-2018) in the Grand Hall of the Ferenc Liszt Music University Budapest, Hungary
live recording 2018

The Hungarian organist Balázs Szabó was the initiator and leading expert of the reconstruction works of the Voit & Söhne organ at the Ferenc Liszt Music Academy in Budapest. The organ of the Grand Hall was built 1907 and after several transformations (1925, 1946, 1956) finally destroyed 1967. In the Hall, Walcker built a completely new organ, but some parts of the Voit-organ still survived in other church-organs. Szabó recovered the original pipes and parts and worked out a big reconstruction-project to make the organ again in its 1907 state. After 10 years of work under his guidance, the renowned German Johannes Klais and the Hungarian AerisOrgona organ builders made the exact reconstruction of the original instrument. Balázs Szabó's performance of Liszt's BACH Prelude & Fugue was the first piece played at the inauguration concert after the reconstruction of the Voit-organ.
