Turn left on the Karakoram Highway and enter the Misgar Valley. In the village of Misgar, where goats graze and clear glacial water trickles, there remains the northernmost post office of the British Indian Empire. Misgar Fort was built along the Kilik River to prevent invasions from China and Afghanistan, along the Silk Road, which was once traveled by the Three Treasures of India. Soldiers of the 73rd Regiment are still stationed at the fortress and guided us around the museum. We met very cute village children, swam in the river, and had a very satisfying day trip!
