The National Shag Dance Championships (NSDC) started in Myrtle Beach in 1984 and is the longest continuously running shag dance contest in the United States. The shag contest is held annually in North Myrtle Beach and presents the most competitive and highest level shag dancing in the country. National Shag Dance Championship is a spectacular celebration of the iconic Carolina Shag, where the finest dancers from across the nation come together to showcase their passion and skill.
