A 24-year-old staffer who held a senior position in the White House Office of National Drug Policy is stepping down after his qualifications were questioned.

Ruth Marcus, Deputy Editorial Page Editor at the Washington Post said during an appearance on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports: "It is outrageous to have people not quite ready for prime-time in that position."

Former RNC Chair Michael Steele said of this peculiar situation, "It says a lot about how they treat some of these positions -- it's really about putting people in positions that they think will carry the kind of water they want them to carry."
