Vintage Shakespeare 2062 Spinning Reel Review

These older Shakespeare 2062 reels (and their little brother, the 2052) are fantastic older worm gear drive freshwater spinning reels. Super smooth cranking with a good drag setup (6 disk drag stack) and aluminum bodies. These are still great reels to use today. Unfortunately (due to cost) worm drive gear/pinion gear systems aren't used regularly anymore but they are the strongest setup for a spinning reel due to the amount of engagement area of the teeth between the drive gear the pinion gear. There are a few Chinese manufacturers making them but they are $200+ and not as well made overall as the older ones from the accounts that I have read. As an added bonus, they also are smooth with no feedback from gear mesh through the handle.
