The NHS’s 70th birthday is a perfect opportunity to remind people about the hundreds of professions that keep the NHS running. In fact, there are over 350!

Each year, the NHS performs around 77,000 hip operations in the UK. If you’ve ever been into hospital for a pre-planned operation, like a hip replacement, there are lots of different NHS staff who will help to make it happen.

You’ll meet quite a few of them, like your surgeon and your nurses, but some of them you’ll probably never see, like the people who run the theatre stores and the estates staff who oversee the theatre maintenance.

In this video, we introduce you to just some of the people who make your planned operations happen.
