Another 3-3 thriller at Ayresome Park but valuable points dropped again by Middlesbrough. A very strong Southampton team featuring up-and-coming talents such as Razor Ruddock, a pre-pubescent Alan Shearer, A load of Wallaces plus seasoned hard nuts like Jimmy Case, Glenn Cockerill and WW2 veteran John Burridge came to Ayresome Park and took a 3-1 lead from being a goal down. The hero of the previous home match, Gary Gill had limped off having tried to play on with a broken leg and Boro looked beaten. However late goals from Bernie Slaven and Mark Burke salvaged a point in a thrilling end to the game but Boro could really have done with all three.
Look out for an entertaining touch-line dust up after Gary Parkinson is stamped on. The young Boro upstarts are certainly no respecters of reputations as Stuart Ripley gets ready to swing at Jimmy Case who is so hard, he only semi connected with a half hearted slap!
