Japan's AMAZING Hummingbird Hawk-Moths | オオスカシバ

The Hummingbird Hawk-Moth in Japan are amazing (オオスカシバ in Japanese). I was finally able to film the hummingbird hawk-moths in Slow Motion. It might surprise you to learn that in Japan, Hawk-Moths are not very poular. Macroglossum Stellatarum are found across Eurasia. The species is named for its similarity to hummingbirds, as they feed on the nectar of tube-shaped flowers using their long proboscis while hovering in the air; this resemblance is an example of convergent evolution.
