This is how I tame/socialise my hamsters. It takes time and patience, but it's worth it when your hamster wants to come out voluntarily and is easy to handle :-) Tino (short for Valentino as he arrived the day before Valentine's Day) had about 7 or 8 weeks of bathtub time once or twice a week. He now comes to the front of the cage when he wants to come out. This is the progress he made from being a baby to being a chunky hamster! And he now happily walks on my hand and lets me pick him up.
