SUN NEVER SETS at MUOTKATUNTURI Wilderness - MIDSUMMER hike! [SILENT][4K][CINEMATIC][2023]

Midsummer in Lapland is magical time. This year I hiked (again) in Muotkatunturi wilderness!

Muotkatunturi Wilderness area is one of the 12 wilderness areas in Finland. It is often referred to as “the wildest of all wilderness areas”. There are no marked hiking trails, though adventurous visitors can trek to see the huge Peltojärvi Lake. An experienced hiker can come here to the edge of nature, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I arrived at Kaamasmukka village when the bug season was just starting, and had to deal with all sorts of flying insects all week long. The weather was hot, even stifling at times. I saw a total of four persons and a single dog during the entire week!

I visited beautiful Stuorraäytsi canyon, and from there trekked to Peltojärvi Lake and stayed at the long sand beach at the southern end of the lake. From the beach I returned back north to Muotkan Ruoktu lodgings. On the way I summitted Peltoaivi and Tuoanganuaivi peaks.

I also tried my luck in fishing and caught both brown trout and grayling, and also managed to get some fishing action shots on video!
