You wanted to know if I have any tips for you going into your second C-section. And at least the benefit of going into your second is that you know more of what to expect during the surgery and afterwards. You know that the recovery is a little bit longer than a vaginal delivery. There is usually more pain associated with it afterwards, because you had abdominal surgery. And hopefully, last time, you also learned that if you move around, it actually promotes healing and will help you heal faster. It will also help to prevent blood clots. And so if you have to be medicated to move, then do it. And work with your nurses and doctors to make sure that your pain is well-controlled so that you can take care of yourself and your baby and be ready to go home and do the same.

Now as for a second C-secion specifically, the surgeon may encounter some more difficulty this time around, especially when women have had multiple C-sections in the past, because there's more scar tissue to deal with. But this isn't likely to cause a problem for you during recovery. I do think that recovery is maybe a little bit harder when you've had previous C-sections before, or with the more children you have, purely because you're older when you're having this baby, and also you have more kids at home to care for. So for this reason, I think it's helpful to make plans to have someone in your home for the first several days after you've gotten home from the hospital so that they can help with your older children, they can help with things around the house, and you can focus on your new baby, and on healing, and taking care of your own body.
