This was the first outing for the vessel For Get Me Knots a 36 foot Moody Sailboat in Southern California USA from the Ventura Harbor, to the Island of Santa Cruze and it's Prisoners Harbor. We had to motor all the way out beacuse we left a little late and were headed directily into the wind and waves. We wanted to anchor before dark as this was our first anchoring trip. We got there in 4.5 hour traveling at about 5.5 to 6 knots motoring at 2/3rds throttle. The waves were steep and close together. After anchoring the boat rolled heavily with the swell all night. We deployed only one anchor but I believe two may have kept us into the waves and made it easier to handle. The storm that was predicted came over night and we were safe not moving an inche from were we dropped the hook. The morning came and we high tailed it again motoring the whole way because there wasn't any wind at 5 am, back to the harbor just in time to have it begin raining cats and dogs. It was a great trip. And the next time we will sail!
