November 7, 2022, is the last working day of the Chief Justice of India, Justice Uday Umesh Lalit. Justice DY Chandrachud will be the next Chief Justice. He will preside over a host of constitutional issues -- the question of the promise of freebies by political parties during elections, the challenge to the Places of Worship Act, 1991, WhatsApp's privacy policy and reviews on Sabarimala and hijab cases.
