বন্যা পরিস্থিতির দ্রুত উন্নতি হচ্ছে বলে জানিয়েছেন পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ড।

রোববার (১৭ জুন) দুপুরে সময় সংবাদকে তিনি একথা জানান। যেসব পয়েন্টে বিপদ সীমার ওপর দিয়ে পানি প্রবাহিত হচ্ছে তা আগামী ৪৮ ঘণ্টার মধ্যে স্বাভাবিক হবে বলেও জানান তিনি।

পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ডের নির্বাহী প্রকৌশলী আরিফুজ্জামান ভুঁইয়া বলেন, ‘আজকে ভারতীয় অংশে বৃষ্টিপাতের পরিমাণ অনেকাংশে কমে গেছে। সিলেট, মৌলভীবাজার, হবিগঞ্জের মোট ৯টি পয়েন্টে পানি বিপদসীমার ওপর দিয়ে যাচ্ছে। তবে, বৃষ্টিপাত কমে যাওয়ায় পানি কমছে। আশা করা যায় ২৪-৪৮ ঘণ্টায় এই পয়েন্টগুলোয় পানি বিপদসীমার নিচে নেমে স্বাভাবিক অবস্থায় চলে আসবে।’

Water Development Board Executive Engineer Arifuzzaman Bhuiyan said, "Today the amount of rainfall in the Indian portion has decreased marginally. Sylhet, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, the water is going through nine points in danger zone. However, due to the decrease in rainfall, water is decreasing. It is expected that at these points 24-48 hours water will fall under danger and come to normal.
