Built in 1911 and abandoned in 1958, John Koldingnes immigrated his family to the windswept prairies of Saskatchewan.

Although the prairies were unforgiving in the "Dirty Thirty's", John and his family persevered and became successful famers, owing one of the largest Steam Threshing outfits in the area.

John and his Wife Steffina had 4 boys. They were well known and respected in the area for years and were prominent members of the community.

The boys grew up, moved out and started families of their own. John and Steffina eventually retired after dedicating their lives to their family, farming and community.

Like most prairie homesteads, the old house became too expensive to maintain in their old age. Upgrading pipes, water, sewage and general maintenance of the draughty house is a sign that it would be best left for memories.

Eventually, the boys grew old, the land was sold and the house was farmed around. A reminder of the past.

Nowadays, the house still sits on a solid foundation but the exterior is beginning to show its.

It's well hidden. If you don't know where to look, you'll just miss the peak of the house while passing down a dip in the gravel road. Perhaps that's why it's still relatively untouched.

Thanks for watching.
