He was the Deputy Leader of the Opposition while in 1990 he was elected as the President-designate of the President, but due to the lack of age, he could not be elected as the President at that time, while later in 1996, he was elected as the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Similarly, in 2001, he was elected as the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu. He held the post of opposition leader in the Kashmir Legislative Assembly. While he was elected as a member of the assembly from his native Mirpur constituency 9 times. While he also held the positions of President Azad Muslim Conference, President of Liberation League Azad Kashmir, President of People's Party Azad Kashmir, President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Azad Kashmir. He was elected as the President of Azad Kashmir in 2021. He highlighted in the style. He highlighted the issue of Kashmir and parliaments of various countries including the United Nations, the US Ministry of Foreign Affairs and led the protests of Kashmiris in different countries, while he led the protests of Kashmiris in different countries, while he in front of the United Nations office in London's Trafalgar Square, New York, in front of the European Union and the European Parliament in Muslis. His visit to Srinagar was of great historical importance. He has no second in highlighting the Kashmir issue at the international level.
