NEIPF secretary general N Ibungochoubi speaks to Northeast Live about the Forum’s plans for World Indigenous Day

August 9 is going to be observed across the world as World Indigenous Day. In Northeast too the occasion would be observed with enthusiasm. One organisation that is already undertaking a major outreach programme to the indigenous youths of the region ahead of the World Indigenous Day is the North East Indigenous People's Forum. Formed in 2017, the NEIPF has been engaged in harnessing the talents and minds of the youths this year by organising essay competitions and various other activities ahead of a special programme on August 9. The theme is the indigenous people of the region being stakeholders instead of carriers of business in Northeast's development story. Also this upcoming event will be special as Sikkim will be formally made a part of the organisation.
