"permutation" refers to the arrangement of objects where order matters, while "combination" refers to the selection of objects where order does not matter; essentially, permutation is about how many ways you can arrange a set of items, while combination is about how many different groups you can form from a set of items, regardless of the order within each group.
Key points about permutations and combinations:
Order matters in permutation:
If you are selecting a group of items where the order of selection is important, you are dealing with a permutation. For example, choosing the top three students in a class based on their ranking is a permutation.
Order does not matter in combination:
If you are selecting a group of items where the order of selection is not important, you are dealing with a combination. For example, choosing three friends to go to the movies is a combination.
Formulas:
Permutation formula (nPr):
n! / (n - r)!
Where "n" is the total number of objects and "r" is the number of objects to select.
Combination formula (nCr):
n! / (r! * (n - r)!)
Where "n" is the total number of objects and "r" is the number of objects to select.
Example:
Permutation example:
How many ways can you arrange the letters "ABC" in a row?
Solution: 3! = 6 arrangements (ABC, ACB, BAC, BCA, CAB, CBA).
Combination example:
How many ways can you select 2 students from a group of 5?
Solution: 5C2 = 10 combinations.

What is NIMCET?
NIMCET or National Institute of Technology Master of Computer Applications Common Entrance Test is an exam conducted for admissions to MCA programs. This entrance exam is conducted every year to offer admission into Masters in Computer Application (MCA)Programme in participating NITs.
