Sasikala is back in Tamil Nadu and its politics as the state is going to witness assembly elections a couple of months down the line. She was serving a jail term in Bengaluru and got out of prison in January but stayed in the city as she contracted Covid-19.
Sasikala returned to Tamil Nadu on Monday to a grand reception by supporters and a nervy reaction from the ruling AIADMK, a party she controlled as former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s aide.
Her supporters put out posters in Chennai, hailing her as “permanent General Secretary of AIADMK”, “Raj Mata” and “Guardian Goddess” to welcome her back in Tamil Nadu. Watch full bulletin.
