What is Promotion Relegation? What is Pro Rel? Should US Soccer Federation force Pro Rel on MLS?

Today we set the stage for the uninformed American sports fan that has never heard of Pro/Rel. I was in this boat just a few years ago. I had no idea teams could move up and down leagues.

As I've grown more in love with soccer/football around the world, the more I've fallen in love with promotion relegation. Once you have an understanding of its power it leaves other sports leagues -- namely all the American ones -- a bit behind. Instead of rewarding success, American sports leagues reward mediocrity.
