I feel like when the western world thinks of Bollywood they immediately think of choreographed performances in meadows, flashy outfits, etc. It’s so much more than that. Desi culture is vibrant, eccentric, peaceful and enriching. Somethings just can’t be explained/described in English like the way they can with language as beautiful as Hindi/Urdu (my first language). There is so much beauty, depth, poetry, heart and soul in Bollywood songs. I’m proud to say that I’ve been singing Bollywood songs since I was a child, and Shreya Ghoshal is someone I really admire and look up to as she is a complete master of her craft. I’ve been listening to her songs since I was about 3 years old (starting with the Devdas soundtrack!!!) and this is someone I can only try mirroring, she’s a beast. I’ve been meaning to put this one out for a while and I really hope you like my Lofi version of this beautifully composed song by A.R Rahman (another complete master of his craft).
