Presentation Title: Modeling a Comprehensive Approach to Gun Violence Prevention in New York State

Bio: Turner has focused his work in the areas of substance use and violence prevention, and is interested in utilizing systems thinking to improve prevention efforts that address these complex problems. While a relative beginner to System Dynamics Modeling, Turner has integrated SD into an ongoing project which examines gun violence prevalence in New York State, with a focus on predictors of gun violence and related policy interventions. Turner's interests include innovative approaches to public health communication, and exploring environmental factors related to substance use and violence through systems thinking and other methods.
