⚡ 11kV Current Transformer (CT) Replacement Work:-
1. Preparation and Safety
Permitting and Isolation: Obtain necessary work permits (e.g., Permit-to-Work, Isolation Permit).
De-energization and Earthing: Safely isolate the 11kV circuit from all sources of supply (upstream and downstream) and apply proper earthing at all designated points to ensure zero potential.
Risk Assessment: Conduct a site-specific risk assessment and job safety analysis (JSA) to mitigate hazards associated with high-voltage work, lifting, and working at height (if applicable).
Tool and Equipment Check: Verify all required tools, lifting gear, personal protective equipment (PPE), and the new 11kV CT unit are inspected and ready.

2. Removal of Existing CT
Secondary Wiring Disconnection: Clearly mark and disconnect the secondary wiring (for metering and protection) from the existing CT terminal box. Record all connections photographically or diagrammatically for reference.
Primary Conductor Disconnection: Disconnect the primary conductors (busbars or cables) from the high-voltage terminals of the old CT.
Physical Removal: Carefully unbolt and lift the faulty/old 11kV CT from its mounting structure, utilizing appropriate lifting equipment and safe methods.
Disposal: Safely secure the old CT for appropriate disposal or return, adhering to environmental regulations (especially if it is an oil-filled unit).

3. Installation of New CT
Mounting: Lift and securely bolt the new 11kV CT onto the existing or new mounting pedestal/structure, ensuring proper alignment.
Primary Connection: Clean, prepare, and securely connect the 11kV primary conductors to the new CT's high-voltage terminals. Connections must meet torque specifications and include anti-oxidation compound where necessary.
Secondary Wiring Connection: Using the recorded diagrams and markings, re-connect the secondary wiring (including earthing) to the new CT's terminal box. Verify correct polarity and core connections (e.g., metering core, protection core).

4. Testing and Commissioning
Insulation Resistance (IR) Test: Perform IR testing on both the primary and secondary windings to verify insulation integrity.
Polarity Test: Conduct a polarity check to ensure the new CT is correctly phased and polarized in relation to the system and relay/meter connections.
Ratio and Saturation Test: Perform a ratio check and, typically for protection cores, a magnetization/saturation curve test to confirm the CT meets specified performance and accuracy class requirements.
Functional Checks: Restore the secondary circuits and perform end-to-end functional checks of associated protection relays and/or energy meters.
Restoration: Remove all temporary earths and complete all checks as per the switching program.

5. Energization and Documentation
Switching: Execute the switching program to re-energize the 11kV circuit and bring the new CT into service.
Post-Energization Checks: Monitor the system to confirm stable operation and correct readings on the connected meters/relays.
Documentation: Update all relevant records, including maintenance logs, test reports, and single-line diagrams, to reflect the installation of the new CT.
