Johns working model Tugboat

Описание к видео Johns working model Tugboat

My friend John built this around 1960. About 6 feet long and weighing in at 200 lbs, it's built entirely from scrap. It has parts from a rambler, a dishwasher, truck axles etc... No store bought parts. He built the hull from plans. It's strip planked and glassed. The engine is an 8 horse briggs and stratton on shock absorbing mounts. There's an electric clutch from an old car air conditioning unit. The exhaust is home made water cooled. The water exits on both sides. The throttle, rudder, and transmission are controlled with old rear axle shift actuaters from 2 speed truck axles. It is not radio controlled. The control cable runs up the tow line to the vessel being towed.
I just happened to be on the river when he showed up so this video was shot with a cell phone and a flip cam. Maybe next time he'll give me some advanced warning and I'll bring a real video camera.
