After creation of the corneal flap with the femtosecond laser, the flap is gently dissected and laid back before centration of the excimer laser by asking the patient to visualise the target (red spot). Next, the excimer laser is applied with an automated pupil tracker that ensures centration of the laser ablation. On completion of the laser, the corneal flap is carefully irrigated and replaced back in its exact position.
