The Big Freeze, also known as Heat Death, is one of the most accepted theoretical models describing the far future of the universe.

As the universe continues to expand, galaxies will drift farther apart, stars will burn through their remaining fuel, and new stars will stop forming. Over extremely long time scales, existing stars will fade, leaving behind black dwarfs, neutron stars, and cold remnants.

Eventually, the temperature of the universe will approach absolute zero. Energy will be evenly spread, and no processes capable of sustaining complexity or life will remain.

In this final state, time will still exist — but meaningful change will no longer be possible.

The universe will not end with destruction.
