US Denies Zimbabwe's Claims on Militarising Zambia, Harare Turns to Russia | Firstpost Africa

The rift between southern African neighbours Zimbabwe and Zambia is widening. The United States has rubbished Zimbabwe's claims that Washington is setting up a military base in Zambia. The US Says it has no bases in Zambia and has no plans to expand its footprint there. Zambia too has denied Zimbabwean reports. Harare has been raising the alarm over the West's increasing support to its neighbour Zambia. Earlier this month, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa expressed his concerns to Russian President Vladimir Putin accusing the US of militarising Zambia to consolidate power in the region and isolate Zimbabwe.
