Caden Cotard (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman) wanders around the ruined warehouse in the masterful ending of Charlie Kaufman's 2008 postmodern drama 'Synecdoche, New York'.

The film was originally panned by critics and was a box office failure, despite being nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. It was re-evaluated many years after as one of the greatest films of the 21st century, with renowned film critic Roger Ebert ranking it as the best film of the decade (2000-2009).

In the 2012 Sight & Sound poll, four critics ranked it among the 10 greatest films of all time, and Roger Ebert considered the film a strong contender for his own list. In a 2016 BBC critics' poll, the film has ranked the 20th-greatest film of the 21st century. In 2019, the film ranked No. 7 in The 100 Best Films of the 21st Century poll conducted by The Guardian.
