Dream Theater - A Change Of Seasons "two Kevins" demo

Описание к видео Dream Theater - A Change Of Seasons "two Kevins" demo

This is my favorite version of A Change Of Seasons, my remaster of the demo from "Antiquities" that has both Kevin Moore and Kevin James LaBrie on it. There are some noise reduction artifacts evident on the cymbals and the vocals, but it’s a big improvement over the original, which had numerous problems including lots of tape hiss, incorrect speed, and the vocals getting too loud, for which I used a multiband compressor to squash the midranges.

A Change Of Seasons actually goes back to 1989. That's when the instrumental parts for this demo were recorded, and LaBrie allegedly laid down his vocals for this in 1991, though he could have also done so in late 1990.

A Change Of Seasons got played a handful of times prior to the EP release in 1995. Certain sections were performed with Charlie Dominici in 1989 (though no recordings of these have ever surfaced), the song was performed twice instrumentally in 1990, and twice again in 1993: at the Limelight in New York City, and in Bonn, Germany. There's also an instrumental recording from a soundcheck in Ludwigsburg, Germany 1993.

Come 1995, A Change Of Seasons had undergone numerous revisions and wasn't as good as the original in my opinion. Most lamentably, the cool "Yngwie section" you hear at 13:46 was left out. Some of Kevin Moore's samples were not included in the finalized song, for example, the one at the very end, which is from Woody Allen's 1988 movie Another Woman.

P.S. My dad's not a Dream Theater fan, or heavy metal fan at all, but he heard this and loved the vocals on it.
