Machine Vs Mountain - BN Double Length Coal Train On Crawford Hill - 1986

Описание к видео Machine Vs Mountain - BN Double Length Coal Train On Crawford Hill - 1986

Found this old video of mine recently, shot on VHS tape back in March, 1986. It's a epic battle of machine vs. mountain! 200+ cars of coal (don't know the exact number) being pulled and pushed by a total of 13 EMD SD40-2 locomotives. That's a total of 39,000 horsepower moving somewhere in the neighborhood of 24,000 tons of coal up a 1.8%
grade!

The was the first and only double coal train I ever saw on Crawford Hill. But I do know that BN, BNSF, and UP have all experimented with double length trains from time-to-time.

Sorry for the poor quality and poor video photography. This was a very early experience of video photography for me, and consumer camcorders were not that good in 1986. :).
