Koala

Описание к видео Koala

Koalas, native to Australia, are often mistakenly called "koala bears" despite being marsupials, not bears. These cuddly creatures spend up to 20 hours a day sleeping, largely due to their low-energy diet of eucalyptus leaves, which are toxic to most animals but not to koalas, thanks to their specialized digestive system. Eucalyptus leaves provide both food and water for koalas, enabling them to survive without drinking water often. Baby koalas, known as joeys, stay in their mother's pouch for about six months before gradually transitioning to riding on her back. Despite their sleepy demeanor, koalas are excellent climbers, using their sharp claws and strong limbs to navigate trees. Koalas communicate through a range of vocalizations, including bellows and grunts, which are surprisingly loud for their size. Tragically, koalas face threats from habitat destruction, disease, and climate change, making conservation efforts critical for their survival.
