Over time, the Tiwi Islands have produced some of the greatest names in AFL history, including Maurice Rioli, Michael Long, and Cyril Rioli—each of whom has made a lasting impact on the national stage.

Today, the Tiwi Islands Football League (TIFL) stands as one of the most remote and unique leagues in Australia, yet it remains one of the most passionate and celebrated. The Grand Final, held annually on Bathurst Island, draws crowds from across the Northern Territory and beyond. It’s a day of fierce competition, cultural celebration, and communal pride.

The 2025 Grand Finals were no exception. This video captures the high energy, incredible skill, and unwavering spirit of the Tiwi players—both men and women. Special guests, including NT Chief Minister Hon.
