Pinarayi Vijayan, the chief minister of Kerala, reacted angrily to Mohan Bhagwat's remarks on population control on Thursday. Pinarayi claimed that Bhagwat's comments about the country's imbalance based on religion were an effort to incite racial prejudice. He claimed in a statement that the RSS campaign was not consistent with factual information nor supported by statistical facts. Bhagwat's remarks that the Citizenship Act would be put into effect in the nation during Vijayadashami festivities were also criticized by the chief minister. He claimed that the RSS leader has been questioning constitutional principles. To influence voters ahead of the approaching elections, Pinarayi claimed that the Sangh Parivar has been spreading incorrect information about India's population growth.
