A Few Minutes With a Giant Pacific Octopus at the Monterey Bay Aquarium 🐙♥️

Just hanging out for a little bit with a cutethulhu at the Aquarium 🐙♥️♥️♥️ The largest of the octopuses, giant Pacific octopuses—or GPOs—live in deep, cold water here in Monterey Bay. Further north along the coasts of Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alaska, they’re more common in shallow water—and even in the intertidal.

Staff spend several hours every day interacting with these animals, taking care of their physical and mental health with various puzzles and enrichments. We have an Octopus 101 playlist if you want to check it out. Enjoy!
