Display Yard Crane Moves (June 2022) - Oyster Bay Railroad Museum

Wow! What a day. Sun, breeze, fun and equipment moving around the yard.

For our calendar 2022 plans, we needed to reposition the two 25 ton GE diesels and our Caboose #12 onto the newly laid yard tracks #1 & 2. We also had to clear the area previously occupied by them, so we could then move the DE/DM and the M7 simulators to the area in front of the turntable. Following this, we also decided to use the track where caboose #12 was to hold the frame of the tender. After all of this was accomplished, we broke for lunch and then picked up and turned the boiler of #35!

Gary, Fred, George, Gerard, Doug, Jeremy, Dominic, Rob and Joe C were on hand to assist the fantastic crew from Aalco Rigging. Led by Doug, the crew moved right in, set up the crane and got the job done. Now it’s up to us to complete the season’s tasks.
