At ACKU (the Afghanistan Centre at Kabul University) this morning, Xinyu Zhang and Hong Liang gave students and the staff of ACKU a preview of their documentary about returning the Buddha to Bamiyan. The people of Bamiyan were moved to tears to see these beautiful statues, part of Afghanistan's amazing cultural heritage, restored to their rightful place even if only as a 3D image projected into an empty niche. These images are a beautiful, and painful, reminder of what was destroyed.
