In Part 6 of my blind Let’s Play for The Midnight Walk, we finally enter Coalhaven and begin Chapter 3 — The Tale of Coalhaven. The atmosphere shifts straight away into something much more sorrowful and sad, and it honestly feels really heavy, like the weight of guilt hanging over both the thief and the townspeople.

Our goal is to recover the scattered remains of a young thief and piece her body back together at a central grave, and every area we explore feels tied to her story. While this chapter is very emotional, it’s also genuinely scary in parts — especially the coffin section with the red eyes, which had me properly on edge. The mix of fear, tension, and meaning works incredibly well.

From eerie courtyards and dark, oppressive spaces to dream-like sequences where closing your eyes is the only way forward, everything feels deliberate and immersive. This chapter was really well done and left me with a lot to think about, and Coalhaven already feels like it’s going to be one of the most impactful parts of the game.
