Описание к видео PHO Rounds: Improving Mental Healthcare for Black Youth: Lessons from Qualitative Research

In follow up to a Public Health Ontario Rounds Event held in March 2024 on Promoting Black Excellence and Evidence-Based Innovations in Mental Health, this Rounds describes lessons from a qualitative research study on improving mental healthcare for diverse Black youth.

The presentation shares the findings of a two-year research study of youth, caregivers and stakeholders on how to improve hospital and community integration to support mental health needs. It describes strategies for meaningful and equitable engagement of Black populations in research approaches and dissemination. To support practice-based learning, individual and systems-level policy recommendations from this project, as well as the broader literature will be shared.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

• Describe the unique challenges and opportunities in effective system design and provision of care for Black youth with mental health difficulties
• Reflect on potential strategies and approaches that increase trust, data validity, and participation in clinical research for underserved populations
• Discuss innovative strategies for knowledge translation, with a focus on underserved communities
