Today is day five of the Liang Hui, or the “two sessions.” Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng took some time to answer questions from the press on the direction of consumerism and commerce in China and new paths for the country’s economy. Minister Gao spoke of a critical year ahead for China’s “One Belt and One Road” initiative, and predicted a “good head start” in 2015. Gao also touched on bilateral investment treaty discussions with both the U.S. and the EU, saying that text discussions with the U.S. had basically been completed.
