For today's practise I decided to start with one of my weakest rudiments, a lefthand leading 6-stroke roll. I've never played one before, so this is as much me learning as practising. That said, it serves as a gentle warmup to the proceeding single stroke rolls.

Part 1 – 10 minutes, 8 x 1 min separated by 20 secs rest

6-Stroke Roll (LH leading)
Singles (RH leading)
Singles (LH leading)
Paradiddle (RH leading)
Paradiddle (LH leading)
Swiss Army Triplets (RH leading)
Swiss Army Triplets (LH leading)
6-Stroke Roll (RH leading)

Part 2 – 10 minutes, 8 x 1 min separated by 20 secs rest

Interpolation (Both hands + Bass drum)
Interpolation (RH + bass drum)
Triplet (RLBLRB)
Pataflafla (RH leading)
Pataflafla (LH leading)
Single hand roll (RH / groups of 3)
Single hand roll (LH / groups of 3)
5-stroke roll (Triplets)

The good news is that - even though it's only Day 3 - I'm already feeling the benefits of practising with the HIIT timer. Just sitting down at the kit to work on rudiments (including the ones I'm net very good at) leaves me feeling really positive about my drumming. I know that over the following weeks things will keep getting better and better, and I won't be struggling at the level I've let myself slip to over the summer!
