SoundShoots is a unique music website innovation that challenges music makers to create a 90 second piece of music in response to a weekly changing theme. Contributors can use the platform to explore new ideas, gain exposure and win prizes for their creations!

In this video, underground solo artist, Filthy Temples, has recorded a live performance of a 90 second piece of instrumental music for the theme 'Rapids'.

Filthy Temples writes: "Taking the theme 'Rapids', I started to imagine the sound that I wanted to create; fast, sharp and with some interesting sonic variations to represent the thrills and unknowns of screaming down raging rapids. From this I used my Boss RC-2 loop station to sketch some ideas of what was going on in my head. I used the looper to set the tempo, set the beat and to pre-record a basic guitar line. With the performance, firstly I played 4 bars of the main riff before hitting the looper to bring in the beat and the pre-recorded line. Then (live) I recorded the same riff but in a different tone before using my Wah pedal to get some deeper variations of the pre-recorded line. I then used the looper to momentarily pause the performance before using a steel slide to bring in another simple riff. I then paused again and switched my attention to the amp to bring some sonic variation to the piece using the amp's phaser and tremolo controls before fading the loops to an end. Production wise, I used a Samson USB microphone to record the performance before adding a touch of reverb to the recording and placing a sample of a gentle rapid into the mix."
