My old hot water heater is 13 years old and still works fine.
But it is a propane heater and the pilot light is on 24 hours 365 day. It causes boiling water in the hot summer season and thermal expansion occurs all the time and leaking plumbing connection problems 5 years ago.

It is a good time to replace the tankless water heater at this time but many considerations must be overcome, especially the gas vent and 1/2" full port gas flow plumbing etc.
It took almost all day to finish, and a very fun summer project was completed.
