Ep 62: Top 5 MUST SEE in Cappadocia Turkey // Doable in One Day
Visiting Turkey, Cappadocia was DEFINITELY on the bucket list of must see things to do. From the magical landscape, fairy chimneys, cave hotels, hiking, hot air balloons, underground cities, Turkish breakfasts and wine it was easy to spend 4 days here. There is so much to see! We honestly did not have enough time. The links below will be for all three videos from our trip.
There are a lot of moving parts and pieces to planning your trip, so I put a lot of information in the links below. I would recommend renting a car depending on where you stay. Our AirBnB is in a traditional Cave Hotel, however it was not in the center of Goreme, located in Nar, close but not walkable. If you don't rent a car, you need to schedule a shuttle to take you ahead of time. I have listed links below. Our stay at Attila's Cave Hotel was wonderful, he and his family were so amazing and also fed us so much good food! There is so much history here. We opt'd to hire our AirBnB host Attila to take us on a personalized tour and his knowledge about the area was priceless. He is a teacher, scientist, tour guide, organic farmer, AirBnB host and overall amazing human being. He customized our tour to see exactly what we wanted to see and more. Under the link below there are notes of every location.

Our AirBnB host was a wealth of knowledge and his tour was a full day and revolved around what we wanted to see and included tea, lunch and dinner. During the tour we visited the Kaymakli Underground City, Pigeon Valley, Kocabag Winery, Love Valley, Zelve Pasabaglar Archaeological site, Fairy Chimneys Paşabağları Müze ve Örenyeri, Red Valley Sunset Point. We drove in his car and his pricing matched the typical Green or Red tour you can book that is not private at 50 Euros. He also did explain that they often take you on 'shopping' excursions and see less things so just be aware when selecting your tour if you choose to do so.

Love Valley
If we had more time we would have done some of the hikes, we drove to the top where they have a beautiful look out over the valley. There are tourist type shops up there too and heart shaped swings. I even rode on a camel. I know, I know - but I so enjoyed it.

Kocabag Winery
While they're not doing full tours/tastings right now due to the state of the world, they are selling wine. And it's so good! Cappadocia is a wine region and they have beautiful grapes here. This was a quick stop in during our tour day with Attlia, it is near Pigeon Valley

Lunch Spot: Turkish Pancake - Gozleme
At the entry at the Zelve there is a small open-air place where we had a delicious light lunch. Some of the people that are there actually lived in the Zelve Cave homes when they grew up in the 50s. The ladies roll out and make Gozleme, you can choose your filling for a savory pancake. I had potato, spinach and cheese. It was delicious. Video below just depicts someone making something similar.
