Introducing iEngage

It's no secret that Israel is the elephant in the room for many Jewish organizations: conversation on Israel is so divisive that it is either obsessive or avoided. The iEngage Project at the Shalom Hartman Institute provides the framework for returning Israel to a central place in the Jewish conversation in North America and improving the nature of that conversation.

Since its inception, iEngage has been developing a deeply rendered and nuanced narrative that gives meaning to Jewish statehood and sovereignty and which articulates a vision of Israel that lives up to the highest standards of Jewish values, morality, and democracy.

In settings as diverse as adult education classes in synagogues across North America to high-level seminars with senior campus professionals, iEngage is making space for serious, values-based discussion of Israel, rooted in texts and ideas. iEngage reinvites Israel back to a central place in Jewish life, by helping individuals articulate not only what Israel is, but what we each hope Israel can be.
