BMW E30 Rear Trailing Arm Bushings [Flo-Flex] & Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement | 006

In this video, I get the rear trailing arms and subframe painted in black and rebuilt with new polyurethane bushings and new wheel bearings for my BMW E30 build project.

I had an issue trying to remove the OE rubber E30 rear arm bushes and instead of going with the old threaded bar bush removal technique I decided to take the plunge and buy a cheap hydraulic press from eBay.

With a slight modification to the rubber bushings and a head gun, the OE bushes were easily removed and I got to replace them with Flo-Flex poly bushings which are simple push-fit (although I used a g-clamp to help with that). These bushings should hopefully be a bit stiffer and more durable for my E30.

The Flo-flex polyurethane bushings are supposed to be rated just the same as Powerflex purple bushings but are a cheaper alternative, and the quality seems better than expected.

The other task I completed was replacing the E30 rear wheel bearings. The old bearings seemed good but taking no chances, I removed them and went ahead and purchased a replacement set with new circlips.

In the video, I also show the method of fitting new E30 rear wheel bearings using a hammer and a drift and also show fitting the new rear wheel bearing circlips which can be quite fiddly as they are stout in size.
